Early Wrestling Career
In 1986, Lisa Moretti went along with one of her friends to an audition held by the newly formed Las Vegas, Nevada-based Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling (GLOW) wrestling promotion. She was successful in her audition and went on to train with Mando Guerrero and debuted in GLOW in the same year as Tina Ferrari. She became a firm fan favourite and it wasn't long before she captured the GLOW championship from Colonel Ninotchka which, for this federation was a crown. Lisa held the GLOW crown for 17 episodes of GLOW television, before losing it back to the woman she'd pinned for it, Ninotchka. She also went on to team with Ashley Cartier, having their tag team known as "T&A" (a name later used in WWE for Trish Stratus' team of Test & Albert). The two of them captured the GLOW tag team titles. Like many of the GLOW wrestlers, she wore a thong type outfit which often led to many a provocative pose in the ring.
David McClaine who was the founder of GLOW, left the company in in late 1986 and started a new promotion, which Lisa followed him to. Powerful Women Of Wrestling, or POWW as it for some reason became known, is where Lisa wrestled under the names Nina and Tina Moretti and she captured the championship belt in this federation on two seperate occasions. Lisa remained with the promotion until it went bankrupt, at which point she wrestled for numerous different promotions like Ladies Sports Club, LPWA, WWOW and others up until 1989. Lisa states that during this time she helped repackage LPWA with Terri Poch (WWE's Tori) for re-release to VHS for Tor Berg. She also says that she accepted a tour to Germany & two tours to Japan, both of which ended up being cancelled. But during this time she mostly supported herself with money brought in from ten different jobs!
World Wrestling Federation
In 1999, Lisa returned to wrestling, signing a contract with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Her first appearance with the company was as one of The Godfather's "Ho's".
Her official debut came on 13th February, 1999, when she was introduced to the fans as Ivory, a gift her had brought to the company for his tag team partner, Mark Henry, who had repeatedly been spurned by Chyna. Lisa managed the tag team of Mark Henry and D'Lo Brown, assisting them in their feud against Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart. Her interferance in matches often led to catfights between herself and Debra, Jarrett's manager. Having seen Lisa's work in GLOW and POWW, the WWF team decided to put her back into her wrestling boots and on February 15th, she made her WWF wrestling debut, teaming with D'Lo Brown to take on Jarrett & Debra. The match ended in a no contest when the two ladies got into an unbreakable catfight. Moretti's feud with Debra ended up bringing them to a one-on-one singles match on March 1st, which Lisa won, but only through Debra being disqualified as the Pretty Mean Sisters (P.M.S) headed to the ring and attacked, culminating in Jacqueline delivering a piledriver to Ivory. She feuded with PMS throughout March and on the 28th of that month, she accompanied D'Lo & partner Test to the ring for their tag title match against Jarrett & Hart. While Debra took it upon herself to try and tempt D'Lo, Ivory went right into action and dragged her from the ring apron. This led to an all out shout-fest which included Test and also the members of PMS. Needless to say, D'Lo was left in the ring to fend for himself and ended up being pinned.
Ivory began challenging for the women's title by April, leaving behind her connections with Mark Henry & D'Lo Brown. She succeeded in defeating Debra for the title on June 14th with a little help from female bodybuilder, Nicole Bass, who became Ivory's bodyguard for a short period of time. There were few divas to challenge her for the belt and so she began defending the gold against so called female WWE fans. Before long, Ivory became involved in a feud over the belt with Tori, but Tori was unsuccessful in defeating Ivory for the belt, even in their match at the Summerslam pay per view on August 22nd. The first ever women's hardcore match would follow on September 6th, in which Ivory again walked out the champion after smashing a mirror over Tori's head. Lisa stated that both she and Terri Poch (Tori) got a bonus pay off from Vince McMahon, owner of the WWF, for the women's hardcore match. Another hardcore match followed on September 26th against returning challenger, Luna Vachon. Once again, Ivory came out as the winner, even after interferance from Tori.
In October of 1999, Ivory became involved in a feud against The Fabulous Moolah and her friend, Mae Young, two of the first ladies of wrestling, returning to the ring in their 70's. While Ivory seemed to be able to get the upper hand on Mae Young most of the time, The Fabulous Moolah was a different issue. On October 17th, Moolah defeated Ivory at the No Mercy pay per view to win the women's title belt, but it was only a week later that Ivory won the belt back and Moolah chose to retire from wrestling (Although has had many stints within the company since).
It seemed as though Barbara Bush (Kathy Dingman), or BB as she was known to fans, would be next in line to challenge for the gold, but it was Miss Kitty who would defeat Ivory in the end at Armageddon 1999 on December 12th to become the champion. This match was known as the evening gown in a swimming pool match, which also involved BB & Jacqueline, where the winner would be the last woman left with her evening gown on. This was the start of the whole pudding match era!
It was in late 1999 that Ivory started to become more conservative and on more than one occasion, labelled audience members and WWF commentator, Jerry Lawler, 'perverts'. On January 23rd, 2000, Ivory begrudgingly took part in the 'Miss Rumble Swimsuit Contest', which in the end was won by Mae Young. With Jacqueline now holding the WWF women's title belt, Ivory challenged her on numerous occasions, but was unable to secure a third title reign. She chose to look in other directions and attempted to win the hardcore title from Crash Holly under the 24/7 rule, smashing a candy jar over his head on March 23rd and attempting to pin him. Again, Ivory was unsuccessful. After Jacqueline had lost the women's title to Stephanie McMahon, the two of them embarked on a very short-lived feud with Dean Malenko, attacking him for his male chauvinist views.
After a short abscence, Lisa returned to the WWF as Miss Ivory, a member of the Right To Censor group whose intention was to make the federation more conservative. The change in gimmick saw her don less suggestive ring attire and she became the absolute female heel. Miss Ivory instantly began a feud with the women's champion, Lita, saying that she was sending out the wrong message with her thong appearing from out of the top of her pants. On the 31st October, Miss Ivory defeated Jacqueline, Trish Stratus & Lita in a fatal four way for the women's title and started her third, and longest reign as champion. She went on to defend the title successfully against Lita at Survivor Series 2000 and the Armageddon 2000 triple threat match against Trish Stratus and Molly Holly.
After Chyna posed for Playboy magazine in late 2000, she incurred the wrath of Right To Censor and on the December 11th episode of Raw, she sufferred a spike piledriver at the hands of Val Venis and Miss Ivory, which injured her neck severely. Chyna returned after being out of action for a month or so and challenged Miss Ivory for the women's title at the Royal Rumble on January 21st, 2001. However, the title was retained by her when Chyna re-injured her neck after a springboard elbow into the corner. While Chyna was out of action once again, Ivory and Steven Richards became involved in a short feud with Jerry Lawler and The Kat, who had started her own group, the Right To Nudity. At No Way Out 2001, Richards defeated Lawler and The Kat was forced to join the RTC. However, Stacy Carter (The Kat) ended up being fired from the company within a couple of days and Lawler left in protest as well. Chyna returned and once again challenged Ivory for the title at Wrestlemania 17 on April 1st, a match which she won with ease. The Right To Censor faction soon disbanded after that, with each member of the group going their seperate way. Lisa ended up being off television for some time.
On August 6th, 2001, Lisa returned to WWF television which was soon turned to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) after a court battle against the World Wildlife Fund. It was here that Lisa joined the invading Alliance (Run by Vince McMahon's son and daughter, Shane & Stephanie), forming a stable with WCW females Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler after helping them defeat Jacqueline. When Torrie defected to the WWF with her bodyfriend Tajiri, Ivory helped Stacy Keibler and Tazz pick up a victory over the two. It wasn't long before Ivory left Keibler behind and went on to join forces with The Hurricane, another invading WCW superstar, assisting him in his feud with Matt Hardy and in turn, Lita. Lance Storm soon joined the two of them, along with Molly Holly, who became known as Mighty Molly, The Hurricane's sidekick. The team went on to feud with the Hardy Boyz and Lita. It wasn't long before the women's title was brought back into play in WWE (Chyna had left the company while still champion, and as Lisa has stated, she left with the actual belt, so another one had to be made for the division). At Survivor Series on November 18th, a six pack challenge featuring Ivory, Mighty Molly, Jacqueline, Trish Stratus, Lita and the debuting Jazz took place, which Trish won after delivering the Stratusfaction to Ivory. This night also marked the end for the Alliance and once again, Lisa was taken off WWE television.
World Wrestling Entertainment
When 2002 rolled around, Lisa became a trainer on the WWE programme, Tough Enough in its second series. It was at this point that the World Wrestling Federation lost a court battle with the World Wildlife Fund, which also used the WWF logo, and therefore, the company had to be renamed World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE. The roster was then split into two seperate brands, Raw and Smackdown! where superstars & divas alike would be drafted to either of the shows and wrestle only on that brand. Ivory was drafted to Smackdown! and had a very short feud with one of the Tough Enough 2 winners, Linda Miles, teaming with the other winner, Jackie Gayda on one occasion to face Linda and women's champion Trish Stratus. Lisa was then once again removed from WWE television and she toured the world with the likes of Ron Simmons, Terri Runnels and JBL, promoting WWE house shows. In November of 2002, Ivory was traded to Raw (with several other superstars in exchange for the Big Show) where the women's title division was. For the rest of the year, she attempted and failed on a few occasions to become women's champion in matches with Trish Stratus.
In early 2003, after once again being off TV for a while, Ivory returned as a face diva and after a match with Trish Stratus when Victoria attacked, she helped her out which led to a tag match the following week where Victoria teamed with women's champion, Jazz. Ivory's face turn put her in contention for the women's title again and she started a feud with the champion, defeating her on several occasions, none of which were for the title though. Just when it looked like Ivory would be challenging for the belt, Jazz became injured and for that reason, the angle was never carried through. Ivory served as team-mate to Trish Stratus on one or two occasions in tag team and six person tag matches and was then kept mostly on Raw's pre-show, HEaT, wrestling in intergender tag matches against Victoria & Steven Richards. Her only pay per view appearance during the course of the year was on December 14th at Armageddon, where she challenged women's champion, Molly Holly, to a match for the title. This match was added to the card as a filler-in section and Ivory was pinned by Molly. Her last match for WWE was on HEaT on December 21st against Victoria in a number one contenders match, which she also lost.
With the writers having no direction for Lisa's character, she was sent to WWE's training ground, OVW, in early 2004 for nine weeks to train up-and-coming superstars. After that, she had her contract restructured to an announcers contract and she co-presented the WWE Experience programme with Todd Grisham. She also began to actively compete on the independent circuit again. The Experience programme was cancelled in August 2005 and on July 22nd, a few weeks before this happened, it was announced on wwe.com that Lisa's contract would not be renewed.
Independent Circuit
After leaving WWE, Lisa began working at her home, doing landscaping and agricultural work. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Lisa became involved in charity work aimed at assisting the victims of the hurricane. It was after this that Lisa started wrestling more-so on the independent circuit, for promotions like Big Time Wrestling (BTW), Pinnacle Wrestling & Pro Wrestling Beyond (PWB). In November, Lisa teamed up with Bambi to face Team Blondage (Amber O'Neal & Krissy Vaine) and defeated them to win the Carolina Championship Wrestling (CCW) tag team titles. This promotion closed down soon after though.
On April 21st, 2006, Lisa captured the Supergirls Title at an Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW) event, defeating Rebecca Knox to win the belt and then successfully defending the title belt the very next night against the same woman. She lost the belt to Nattie Neidhart on October 8th in a match for Big Time Wrestling. It was also in 2006 that Lisa joined up with another former WWE diva, Nora Greenwald (Molly Holly) and the two of them went on a road trip to Trish Stratus' wedding, wrestling for money to pay for gas along the way. After this, Lisa has seemed to distance herself from wrestling, only making appearances generally for autograph sessions. Lisa also went to Utah to help bestfriends.org, an animal rescue center which took in animals from Lebanon which had had to be left behind by people who were driven out. They airlifted over 400 animals to America and they were treated and rehomed.
